Google Nemesis / Google Slasher - interesting, but flawed?

I too got a pile of mail inviting me to jump in to the Google Nemesis launch.

If you haven’t heard of it then it is a server side, template driven, one-click method of quickly setting up Clickbank affiliate reviews and sending traffic using AdWords (or other PPC’s).

Well, I thought I would take a look and signed up - but my question here is, is this approach not seriously flawed? (more…)

“The What, How, Where, When, Which and Why of Long-Tail Keyword Research…”

Long-tail keyword research is one of my least favourite terms in the field of search marketing as
it does not to my mind describe adequately what it actually is. In any event, I have decided to break cover with my own personal method of mining long-tail keywords,in a way that is also extremely kind to the search engines, while at the same time being ruthlessly efficient. (more…)

Google AdWords To Extend its Reach into Yahoo!

If anyone were ever wondering how strong the stranglehold Google has on the world of search advertising, then today’s deal between Google and Yahoo! will make it clear just how powerful Google has become.

Within just hours of yet another approach from Microsoft, Google has done a deal with Yahoo! that seems to enable Google to syndicate its search advertising (AdWords) on Yahoo’s distribution channel. (more…)

Keywords Analyzer vs Keyword Elite - head to head video

We tried an interesting exercise recently - I put together a head-to-head shootout between the two leaders in this keyword research market. Our own Keywords Analyzer and Keyword Elite.

The challenge was to see how quickly each program could produce 10 000 top keyword results for the keyword search term : Mortgage, together with search counts.

Keywords Analyzer did the job in just shy of 47 seconds - it took Keyword Elite over five hours (and a lot of the keyword search results were not at all relevant to the original search term)

The video tells the story - you can watch it here

Keyword research - What does R/S mean in Keywords Analyzer

Hi

I caught this question being asked a few times on the SERPS so thought it may be a good idea to answer it here.

For those that don’t know Keywords Analyzer, we measure a keywords usefulness or effectiveness for SEO keyword research purposes using two different measures.

The first is simply what is called R/S - or the ratio of keyword demand to supply. It is best illustrated with an example: (more…)

More about links

Regarding my previous post about off-theme links, there are two other interesting observations to make. Please read that post first, so you will understand what I am talking about here.

1) Anchor text. If you look at the links from various blogs that this guy made, you will noticed that he used certain anchor text. Usually it is “wow power leveling”. It is exactly the same keyword that at the end he ranks first for on Google. Anchor text in inbound links is VERY IMPORTANT. (more…)
